Epworth celebrated a number of successes when the 2019 Dusi Canoe Marathon came to an end at Blue Lagoon on Saturday. Epworth debaters Sunusha Moodley, Faye Crawford and Reabetswe Pekile participated in the South African Schools’ Debating Tournament during the December holidays. All three girls fared extremely well with Faye being ranked first overall junior speaker in South Africa. She was selected as a South African trialist for the coming season.
Epworth is extremely proud of the class of 2018 for achieving excellent National Senior Certificate (NSC) results. Not only did we record a 100% pass rate, but we also achieved a 100% Bachelor degree pass rate. The local SPCA is one of the many organisations that Epworth pupils support during the school year. The Prep School recently held a SPCA civvies day which resulted in generous donations of pet food. Epworth’s 2019 leaders were announced at an assembly in the last week of the third term. They were officially inducted at a special service on 26 October, held in the school chapel. Kimberley Gemmell is Head Girl for 2019 and her two deputies are Tiara Joseph and Ruth Dube.
For the 12th consecutive year, Epworth won the Inter-schools’ Canoeing League, which takes into account all the canoeing disciplines and includes all points accumulated during the year. Epworth was also recognised for having the most representatives at every event.
