Grade 8 Orientation Programme:
In the first ten days of their high school career, Grade 8 pupils take part in an orientation programme that introduces them to the various facets of school life and the staff in charge of them. Academic lessons are introduced gradually during the first week. The programme culminates with a 3 day camp led by Edge Training. Here the girls take part in activities that enable them to get to know one another better and bond as a group. They are also given valuable input on study skills.
Vogue Programme:
The Vogue Programme is aimed at introducing our Grade 10 girls to the life skills that they will need as young women in our changing world. Through the programme, which culminates in a traditional ball in the third term, they are taught skills such as self-defence, health awareness and vital skills, amongst others. Parents are very much involved in the programme and this has proved to be an enriching exercise for all those involved.
Grade 11 Leadership Programme:
Every year, the Grade 11 girls spend a 3 day camp focusing on leadership skills and planning for their Grade 12 year. The camp is led by Edge Training, a professional consultancy specialising in leadership development, and previous venues have included Mbangweni Lodge and El Olam.
Work Experience: In the days preceding their Leadership Camp, the Grade 11 girls spend time on Work Experience in the field of their choice. This includes a Life Orientation project exploring career opportunities, salaries and working conditions, along with an interview of somebody in the relevant field.
College Lectures:
We have a programme of College Lectures where guest speakers address the girls on a wide range of subjects.
Epworth-on-the-move-programmes:
After half-term in the third term, while the Grade 12′s write their trial examinations, the Epworth on the move programme comes into operation for a week.
The Grades engage in the following programmes:
Grade 8′s: HIV/Aids education programme
Grade 9′s: Academic Programme at Babinango
Grade 10′s: Vogue Programme
Grade 11′s: Leadership Programme
Mentor Programme:
Mentors assist the new Grade 8 pupils and help them to adjust to High School. The Peer Mentors are chosen from the Matric grade and provide a bridge of friendship between the older and younger pupils.
