We celebrate the arts by preparing lessons around a 2 weekly theme as well as with an annual spring concert for the junior groups and a Nativity Play for the Gr R’s. Our daily programme, which is theme related, incorporates the three learning areas in an incidental way in the junior groups and in a more formal way in Gr R. At this stage we follow a “school readiness” programme along with Alphaland (South African based) and Thrass – teaching handwriting, reading and spelling skills. The Gr R learners also attend assembly and chapel once a week and are involved in specialist lessons with the primary school each week.
Tuesday – information technology
Wednesday – music
Thursday – sport (swimming 1st & 4th terms, ball skills 2nd term, athletics 3rd term)
Each morning ends back in the home base/classroom with a story and language extension and a small resting period before home/aftercare or extra-murals.
