If music be the food of love, play on!
Our pupils are taught to hit the right notes from a young age. What are we talking about? Our Pre-Primary and Prep School’s music curriculum of course.
Here at Epworth, we put a lot of energy into music education from Grade RR right through to Grade 12.
As early as Grade 1 and 2, pupils learn to play the recorder, while Grade 3 pupils learn the violin, and Grade 4 pupils, the clarinet.
Individual and small group lessons are also offered over and above the music curriculum where pupils can further learn to play the piano, violin, cello, clarinet, saxophone, flute, recorder, guitar, drums and voice. Pupils as young as 4 years old can also attend individual music lessons – yes they really are little musicians in the making!
Our school’s Prep Ensemble and Marimba band is one for the music books; they perform at various school concerts, assemblies and in chapel services. They also participate in interschool events on and off campus.
The facilities at our new state-of-the-art Performing Arts Centre (PAC) truly bring out the musicians in our pupils.
A 100-seater ensemble room, a music studio on the upper level and 10 sizeable music rooms for teaching and instrumental practice also feature.

We are making some new introductions to our music department for our Grade 1s and plans are underway to enhance the existing class instrumental programmes. The keyboard and percussion will be added to this already exciting line-up midway through Grade 1.

In addition to music being fun for pupils, learning to play an instrument helps your child develop further both academically and socially. We see improvement in self-esteem, listening skills and Maths. Music also helps our pupils relieve stress, develop their creativity, improve coordination, and enhance their teamwork skills.
